Environmental management and human safety a key driver for implementing ISASMELT™

The largest producer of lead Alloys in the ASEAN region, Metal Reclamation Industries (MRI) places a strong emphasis on safety and environmental management. In 2000, MRI commissioned a secondary ISASMELT™ lead smelter at Pulau Indah, Malaysia to increase its recycling capacity and avoid millions of hazardous lead-acid batteries being disposed of improperly.

The plant produces up to 40,000 tpa of refined lead primarily from recycled lead acid battery paste.
